·               Served as Oracle Applications DBA on a Release 11i Oracle Applications implementation at a telecommunications manufacturer in Los Angeles, CA. 

·               Performed several fresh installations of Oracle Applications Release 11i (11.5.1), including Financials, Manufacturing, and Customer Relationship Management (CRM).

·               Applied several hundred Oracle Applications patches using adpatch utility to several different databases and all tiers.  Implemented patch management system to track which patches have been applied to which instances and which tiers.

·               Researched and implemented Multi-Tier Application Server configurations with multiple Forms Servers.

Position: Senior Database Administrator

·               As Front-Line Production DBA, responsible for backup and recovery, performance tuning, and overall state-of-health for a number of large (50 GB+) Production Oracle databases, running Oracle 7.3.4 and Oracle 8.0.5.2 on SUN Solaris 2.6 servers.  Dealt with several critical issues in an innovative fashion regarding system outages, lack of backups, lack of disk space, and lack of system resources.  Assisted UNIX System Administrators in configuring database servers and client machines.  Mentored several junior DBA’s at the corporate office regarding the Enterprise Data Warehouse.

·               As Test DBA, responsible for large test system designed to emulate entire Production facility at Big Planet ISP.  Created test databases using database cloning method of taking database hot backups, archived redo logs, and controlfile from the system backups and performing a controlled recovery in the test environment.

·               Performed an Oracle Applications 10.7/Prod 16.1 SmartClient/RDBMS 7.3 upgrade of Oracle Applications 9.4.2/RDBMS 7.1.6.2 database, running on a SUN Solaris 2.5.1 server.  The client site was running several of the Oracle Financials and Manufacturing modules, including Payables (AP), Purchasing (PO), and Inventory (INV), as well as a custom application designed to perform the functionality of General Ledger (GL). 

·               Performed extensive reconfiguration of redo logs, rollback segments, INIT.ORA parameters, as well as a complete rebuild of the database using 8K db_block_size.  Developed specialized routines to clean up audit logs and trace files, as well as to perform Oracle imports and exports via UNIX Named Pipes with split and compress utilities (to circumvent UNIX 32-bit O/S limitation of 2 GB file sizes).

·               Performed full complement of Oracle Applications DBA functions.

·               Attended Oracle Education training in following: Oracle7 Backup & Recovery Workshop, SQL Statement Tuning, Technical Foundations of Oracle Manufacturing, Technical Foundations of Oracle Financials.

·               Performed a Proof of Concept for Oracle Enterprise Backup Utility (EBU) Release 2.2 working with Legato Storage Manager (LSM) in a Windows NT environment.  Duties included creating both a Oracle 7.3.4 test database and a Backup Catalog Database on a Windows NT 4.0 server, installing and configuring EBU and LSM, and testing same.

·               Worked as an Oracle Applications Data Warehouse DBA in a Financials and Manufacturing environment. Required build of Data Warehouse database, installation of DecisionPoint server and client software, numerous data extractions from the Oracle Applications environment, and Performance Tuning for extraction and query purposes.

·               Provided 7x24 on-call support of mission-critical applications.

·               Implemented Oracle Parallel Query Option (PQO) in order to utilize 8 CPU’s on Production database server. 

·               Performed study of applicability of Oracle8 features, in preparation of implementing same in a prototype fashion at client site. 

·               Developed archival routines to purge Production database of records no longer needed.

·               Supported a 20 GB marketing Data Warehouse on a Silicon Graphics Origin 200 database server running Oracle 7.3.2.  Support included sizing and maintaining large Fact, Dimension, and Aggregate tables and indexes, as well as optimizing the database, first for large data loads and then for query performance. 

·               Performed extensive SGI IRIX 6.2 System Administration tasks including remote mounting filesystems, performing a full system backup of over 30 GB of data to tape, and coordinating installation of a 40 GB Amdahl disk array.

à         Project:  EDS Denver Resource Center/Bell South

·               Developed database copy technique for moving databases from one database server to another. Trained fellow DBA’s in same technique.

·               Provided assorted database support to application developers.

·               Planned implementation of Oracle Network Manager and Oracle Names to distribute Oracle SQL*Net configuration information.  As an interim step before full-scale implementation of Oracle Names, developed an automated FTP script to distribute SQL*Net configuration files from one master database server to dozens of others.

·               Participated in policy-making discussions regarding database security, roles, and privileges.

·               Planned migration of Oracle databases from Version 7.1.6.2 to Version 7.3.2.3, with concurrent migration from HP-UX 9.04 to HP-UX 10.20.

·               Responsible for the ORACLE database administration of 4 ORACLE database servers for the Army Reserve Personnel Center (ARPERCEN) and 2 ORACLE database servers for PRC. 

·               As Database Team Leader, supervised four mid‑ to junior‑level DBA's in their daily functions.

·               Migrated an ORACLE 7.0.15 RDBMS running on an IBM RS/6000 (AIX 3.2.1) to an ORACLE 7.2.2.3 RDBMS running on a Hewlett Packard HP 735 (HP‑UX 10.01). 

·               Upgraded SQL*Net V1.2 implementations to SQL*Net V2.1.

Project:  McDonnell Douglas Corporation

·               Served as a UNIX ORACLE DBA supporting both Hewlett‑Packard and SUN database servers. 

·               Set up and maintained production databases on a day to day basis.  Dealt with issues on taking advantage of the ORACLE Parallel Query Option (PQO) on Symmetrical Multiple Processor (SMP) platforms, and implementing High Availability (HA) solutions. 

·               Served as physical Oracle Database Administrator on a large Peoplesoft Financials implementation of the General Ledger module, running in an ORACLE 7.1.6/HP-UX 10 environment on a Hewlett-Packard T500 database server.

·               Installed and optimized an ORACLE 7.1.6 database running on a Sparc 1000 database server with Solaris 2.4 operating system.  This implementation involved providing for a High Availability system, utilizing the Open Vision High Availability software running on two Sparc 1000's.  Database issues included archiving, hot backups. and use of raw devices.

·               Installed and optimized an ORACLE 7.1.6 database running on a Hewlett‑Packard T500 database server with HP‑UX 10 operating system.  Database issues included taking advantage of the T500's 12 CPU's using the ORACLE Parallel Query Option.

·               Led a database tools trade study and evaluation responsible for selecting and implementing the following types of database tools: 1) Database performance monitor, 2) Database object manipulation tool, 3) Database job scheduling tool.

·               Attended the Very Large Database Summit in New Orleans, LA.  This seminar dealt extensively with Parallel Databases, SMP vs. MPP architectures, and OLTP vs. DSS implementations.

·               Managed the daily operations of a DEC MicroVAX II operating under VMS which contained the Electronic Warfare Integration Reprogramming (EWIR) database. 

·               Completed ORACLE Corporation Masters curriculum. 

·               Designed and implemented an ORACLE V6.0 relational database for the EWIR data, using embedded SQL, SQL*Forms 3.0, and SQL*ReportWriter 1.1.
